In 1996 a home base for pacific arts was established in west Auckland by a group of passionate artists and community leaders. This cultural hub was set up to provide a home for the preservation and growth of all types of Pacific arts and culture, and while its name has undergone several changes over the years, its activities and purpose endured. In 2012 the Pacifica Mamas Arts & Cultural Trust – the centre’s governing body – unveiled the hub’s new name, the Pacifica Arts Centre. The Pacifica Arts Centre is widely recognised as the home of the Pacifica Mamas and Papas, and is a busy hive for both emerging and established artists alike.
The Pacifica Mamas Arts & Cultural Trust comprises five professionals with sound management skills and vision. They boast a proven track record of successfully completing projects with the ongoing support of the community, the ASB Community Trust, Auckland Council, Creative New Zealand, Lion Foundation and the Trusts Foundation.
